On Thursday 26th May, Birkenhead High School Academy were visited by soon-to-be-100 year old ex-headmistress, Margaret Beddoes. She was asked how she wanted to mark her special occasion and she replied that she would like to visit her old school. I had the privilege of leading Amy Chalmers’ junior choir, performing her arrangement of Nik Kershaw’s ‘The Sky’s The Limit’.
The girls were fantastic and it was an exciting and worthwhile occasion for everyone involved.

On 25th March, six Sense of Sound Singers performed at The Floral Pavillion for The Buz Live. We collaborated with the Charmed string quartet and backed Tim Lennon for his rendition of Real Love. It was fantastic to perform alongside so many talented local acts at this wonderful New Brighton theatre.
On 27th April, Sense of Sound Singers were proud and honoured to lead everyone at the Hillsborough Memorial at St George’s Hall in a hugely emotional performance of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’. The event felt intensely surreal that it was happening 27 years after the event. As if the tragedy itself was not enough, the lies and collusion that followed have dragged this nightmare on and on for the brave families.
The families and their supporters have displayed the best of humankind over the past 27 years and to sing on the steps of St George’s Hall in support of them was poignant and unforgettable.
