Earlier this year, a number of our singers descended on Parr Street Studios to sing Jennifer John’s vocal arrangement of the orchestral chaos from The Beatles’ ‘A Day In The Life’. It was a surreal experience and like no other recording session I have been involved in before! The recording was done to accompany a video commissioned by Liverpool City Council. Day In The Life
Earlier this year, I assembled a brand new vocal group featuring 20 fantastic, diverse singers. We are called ‘Over The Water. Roughly half the group is from Liverpool and the half is from ‘over the water’ in Wirral! The singers were all drawn from the ‘Matt Lammin & Friends’ group that get together every year to perform at Christmas, collaborating with string players.
I’m excited to announce that ‘Over The Water’ will soon be appearing on BBC One’s brand new show, Pitch Battle. The show is an exciting and vibrant format and it will feature top vocal groups from around the country. Judged by Gareth Malone and Kelis alongside weekly guest judges including Seal, Joe Jonas and Will Young, the show promises to be an action-packed, refreshing Saturday Night music show. Pitch Battle also features Mel Giedroyc as the presenter and Deke Sharon as music director.

In February, I had the real privilege of directing 160 singers at The BBC Worldwide Showcase at the Liverpool Echo Arena. We circled around the venue and performed music by Hans Zimmer with underwater scenes from Planet Earth as our backdrop! It was an ethereal experience and a real special moment across the whole arena.
A number of choirs were brought together by Jennifer John from Sense of Sound to form one super-choir! These choirs included Sense of Sound Singers, The Bebington Bittermen, The Luminelles, Kaboodle Community Choir, Platonix, Up For Arts and Sunlight Unplugged.
Back in March, eight Sense of Sound Singers performed at the launch of the British Music Experience, which is a fantastic permanent attraction based at Liverpool’s Cunard Buildings. I would thoroughly recommend visiting!!
At the event, we performed songs by huge British artists such as Sting, Elton John and The Real Thing.

In November 2016, a handful of Sense of Sounders backed Tommy Scott and Space at the Liverpool Philharmonic Music Room. It was a joyous occasion with Sahir House. We performed Neighbourhood, Female of The Species and The Ballad of Tom Jones, with Jennifer John sharing the lead with Tommy.
