Liverpool String Quartet & Sense of Sound Singers Christmas Collaboration Wraps Up

And so the Sense of Sound Singers and Liverpool String Quartet Christmas Collaboration wrapped up on Sunday with a rousing sold-out final concert at Mayer Hall in Bebington. This was on the home turf Dani Sanxis from the string quartet and it their gig, featuring Sense of Sound Singers. As Jennifer John said early on in the concert, this was the choir’s first foray onto the peninsular of Wirral!

Having completed two other sold-out concerts earlier in the week at The Bluecoat Arts Centre and The Liverpool Anglican Cathedral, this was the final date in the 2013 diary for the two groups. All three concerts were very different. The venues were diverse and the acoustics were very different in all three.

There were so many highlights from the concerts from both ensemble’s individual repertoire, from the collaborative pieces and also from the solos sung by Len and Lauren, backed by the quartet. The artistry and musicality of both groups was evident for the three sellout audiences to witness and the vibe and camaraderie across the two ensembles made it even more special.

Here is the setlist from the collaboration –

O Come All Ye Faithful   (Quartet with Choir)
Winter Wonderland    (The Liverpool String Quartet)
Swallowed By The Sea    (Sense of Sound Singers)
Corelli’s Christmas Concerto    (The Liverpool String Quartet)
White Christmas    (Lauren Southwick with The Liverpool String Quartet)
Backroom    (Sense of Sound Singers)
I Wish It Could Be Christmas    (The Liverpool String Quartet)
The Coventry Carol    (Sense of Sound Singers)
The Christmas Song    (Len Higginson with The Liverpool String Quartet)
A Case Of You    (Choir & Quartet)
The First Nowell    (Quartet with Choir)
Winter Clear    (Choir with Quartet)
Hark The Herald Angels Sing    (Quartet with Choir)
Walking In The Air    (Quartet with Choir)

I hope we helped to bring everyone into the Christmas Spirit at these concerts. It’s been a real privilege to be involved in bringing this very special collaboration together.
