Phoenix Voices, Re:Cover Music Project

Last week I was asked to be involved in putting together the original song for Phoenix Voices at Phoenix House and recording at Tankfield Studios at Fallen Industries. Bringing their lyrics to life was not a difficult task because there were such moving messages in amongst the words they had written as a group.

Phoenix Voices is a choir made up of community members from Phoenix’s Wirral Residential Service. The choir, run by Carey Marsden, came about through a shared love of singing and as a result of on-going partnership work between Phoenix Futures and Wirral NHS Community Trust (Wirral CT).

When asked about the choir that she runs, Carey said “watching the enthusiasm grow in the group is just amazing. It is wonderful to see smiles appear and feel spirits lift through the shared experience of singing together. Sometimes people come along with low mood at the beginning of the practice and it is so fulfilling to then see how this can change as they join in with the songs. One of the group recently described how singing was taking over from football as his first love!”

The choir is made up of twenty members.
